DNS Lookups not working

No matter what I try I can't get DNS lookups to work. They fail with the message "Could not resolve host".

I'm a member of a domain with a DHCP assigned IP address which gives me three different DNS servers. None of them work in the manual network tools section, but when I use a cmd window or Cygwin console to do an nslookup I get fine results. What's going on?

Here's a section from the log:

System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80004005): Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component.
